As the United States prepares to deliver humanitarian assistance, it is vital that aid is directed through trusted local channels—not through the military regime, which has long lost the trust of its people.
This message comes loud and clear from pro-democracy advocates and Burmese diaspora communities here in the U.S. Aid must reach the hands of those who are truly helping on the ground: local community leaders, ethnic resistance organizations (EROs), people’s defense forces (PDF), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are already delivering food, medical care, and shelter in affected areas. This will enhance the Efficiency in delivering that aid to the needed individuals while minimizing unnecessary costs and corruption.
Now, we need the will.
Together, we can bring hope to those still waiting to be found.
Together, we can make a difference.
